This album is so close to being a complete disaster that it's just plain ridiculous. Is that such a shocker, though, really? The one-time Prince of Darkness has of late been nothing more to the world (thanks again, reality TV!) than a silly old invalid. How else to explain Black Rain, 10 tediously predictable new songs that sound like he penned them all on the shitter in a few minutes. Granted, the man has always been style over substance lyrically, but shit like I Don't Wanna Stop and Almighty Dollar is so fucking bad that it defies logic. Save for super-guitarist Zakk Wylde and former Faith No More drummer Mike Bordin, Rain has no redeeming features. It reflects a man who should have stayed home in his mansion shuffling around in his slippers.
