Attention, fellow music fans with embarrassingly short attention spans: here’s a quick fix of quality rock amongst a sea of redundancy. This Welsh quintet write competent, intricate music that refuses to rely on complacency and repetition. Their debut album is a challenge to pin down, with its hectic combination of sludgy rock à la Kyuss, dreamy post-rock and the passionate delivery of their fellow countrymen Manic Street Preachers. Between singer Gareth Jones’s great set of pipes and the entire band’s quest for beautiful, melancholic music, this is a band to watch in the coming months.People in Planes play the Mod Club Saturday (March 4) as part of CMW.
