Mcenroe , the producer of this Vancouver rap maniac’s sophomore album, has fashioned a layered, mellow and melodic sound that works as a delicious pie crust for Pip Skid’s edible rhymes, which are slurredly audible and deal with stuff like having to work a lame day job, hating the war in Iraq, being lonely, having an acute fear of germs and listening to classic hiphop. His energy shines throughout the project, and although he has a working-class Canuck flow that will probably turn off Diplomats fans, his skills are evident on this well-put-together LP.
Pipi Skid’s Peanuts & Corn cronies Hip Hop Weiners hit the 360 Friday (April 30).
