Trevor Jackson has his hands in a lot of creative pots, but he’s becoming better known for the electro-disco-rock-house tracks he does under the Playgroup moniker. This is a two-CD set of remixes featuring reworkings of tracks by the likes of Chicks on Speed, the Rapture, Yello, Soft Cell, Chromeo and Peaches. DJs will appreciate the large quantity of quirky and club-ready grooves, but for the home listener it would be better packaged as a mix CD – most people don’t need to hear the full extended version of every track. If this sound is your thing, Playgroup offers some of the best, but those with a more casual interest would be better off picking up his DJ Kicks mix CD.
