PRIMAL SCREAM

PRIMAL SCREAM Evil Heat (Sony) Rating: NN Rating: NN

At least when Primal Scream thought they were the Rolling Stones they had some tunes, which is more than can be said of their current electro incarnation, as actual songs are in short supply on the horribly monotonous Evil Heat. The 80s throwback concept might’ve worked for them last year, when that shit was all the rage, but dropping the guitar and the usual rock ‘n’ roll clichés to snarl heavily filtered catchphrases over grinding Die Krupps-style synth grooves seems like an unfortunate waste of drugs.
