Rancid

Rancid Indestructible (Hellcat) Rating: NNN Rating: NNN

Just seconds into the title track of Rancid’s new Indestructible disc, Tim Armstrong reminds us that he “keeps listening to the great Joe Strummer,” so you know that not much has changed. Ska punk may be yesterday’s news as far as the mosh contingent is concerned, but Rancid are keeping it real while expressing concerns about freedom of expression and abuses of power with the distinct lack of wit that has inspired so many would-be marginal rock stars to believe themselves poets. Uncomplicated, bouncy and mostly fun, Indestructible doesn’t break any new ground, but there’s some kick-ass guitar for ya. The Rancid faithful won’t be disappointed.
