RATSICULE Un Chaud Combo (independent) Rating: NNN

Rating: NNN

Think of this high-energy debut by francophile neo-T-dot duo Ratsicule as y&eacute-y&eacute music for the new millennium, drenched in tightly-coiled Ramonesish poppy punk hooks, the tacky swagger of Eurotrash electro and the fluid sexual politics of post-feminism. Les soeurs Bardot, Lisa et Kristi, chirp out hilariously clever (and bilingual!) lyrics about hottie doctors, gender-bending digits and tryin’ to mack on the ladies (and gents) in their Big Pink Volvo and during dates to the dog track. The bass lines are super-tight and the spunky riffs and sweet melodies effortlessly simplistic, which makes Un Chaud Combo loads more charming than the so-called challenging, more dissonant efforts of some of their raunchy European counterparts. And, hell, what’s not to love about an album that kicks off with a track called I’m Too Slutty To Go To Your Party? Let Ratsicule seduce you at Hive Magazine’s Metromyass party at Mind Control (42 Gladstone) Friday (November 7).
