If you still follow R.E.M. loyally, you might wonder why the band is putting out a new double CD/DVD live document a mere two years after the double CD/DVD R.E.M. Live. This one was even recorded in the same city (Dublin). Maybe Michael Stipe wants to erase that release - a dull 2005 tour stop focusing on their mostly forgettable post-millennium output - from history.
Live At The Olympia is a five-night public rehearsal from 2007 that features obscure oldies off records like Reckoning and Document, plus tunes that would later appear on 2008's Accelerate. The band sounds like it's trying to rejuvenate itself, thus injecting the release with a certain energy and vitality that R.E.M. Live lacked.
