If “Christmas” were an adjective, it would aptly describe the feeling that Good Thing Going inspires. Rhonda Vincent’s new 12-song disc dips and rises through the hopefulness of love, the importance of family and heartfelt praise for Jesus.
The album opens and closes with Vincent’s signature vocal trick: she pulls the note up from her gut before she pushes it out to hover at its limit. It’s a move that adds distinction to her otherwise unremarkable bluegrass style. A pleasant enough disc, ideal for low volume play when busy in the kitchen.
