Ottawa’s Rise Ashen checks in with a mix disc of jazzy downtempo beats. He seems to have had a hand in many of the productions here, so if you’re familiar with his take on the whole ethno-dub-house-breakbeat-jazz thing you won’t be disappointed. The compilation is proudly Canadian, and starts off with references to the CBC and Canada Post, with tracks by Legion of Green Men, Stephane Vera, Fred Everything, Miguel Graca, Trevor Walker and Blissom, among others.
Rise Ashen joins Glide’s Grand Finale at Fez Batik Wednesday (September 24) and also DJs at the Bambu September 27.
