Wow, golly, god! Is this really the same Sam Roberts who annoyed the shit outta us a few years back with that Where Have All The Good People Gone song? Huh. The same painfully average songwriter who got popular by some weird cosmic fluke? I don't know what the hell has happened to the man, but all of a sudden he's writing some really solid rock music. Super-melodic songs like Bridge To Nowhere and With A Bullet are two of the best he's ever written, while An American Draft Dodger In Thunder Bay is a clever, politically fuelled rock mini-epic that proves that Roberts, much like a fine wine or a shuffleboard player, is improving with age.
