San Serac sounds a bit like what might happen if David Bowie or Brian Ferry decided to attempt a career revival by getting some of the Ed Banger crew to pair their theatrical crooning with thumping blog-house electro-funk beats.
On paper it’s a train wreck, but on CD it actually sounds pretty awesome. The sounds and beats have that contemporary club feel, but this is much more a pop record than a collection of singles. (Bonus remixes are included for DJs, though.) It’s more melodic and less abrasive than current club sounds, and not shy at all about 80s R&B references rubbing up against reclaimed rave synths.
