A band jumping to K Records usually has one thing in mind: it’s time to get experimental. Saturday Looks Good To Me seemed to be heading in that direction, especially after their last disc, Cold Colors, saw the band make a significant departure from their typical 60s pop sound.
But their new disc is anything but experimental. It’s full-on power pop, complete with furious downstrokes, lush harmonies and highly infectious choruses. Think Pavement meets the Super Friendz.
From the raucous When I Lose My Eyes to the indie pop of The Americans and the handclap-friendly Edison Girls, there’s plenty to like here.
