SHITT HOTTT

Rating: NNNN

Genuinely exciting rock ‘n’ roll recordings turn up so infrequently in Toronto these days that after hearing all the tambourine shaking, Farfisa squawking and cowbell clanking on Are You There God? It’s Me, Shitt Hott, I had to double-check to make sure that Shitt Hottt are actually true-blue Hogtowners and not some party-starting ringers who snuck in from Montreal or maybe Vancouver.

I admit I haven’t seen their birth certificates, but listening to the 10 tracks of clap-along garagey kicks for the third time through on repeat, it definitely sounds like Andrea, Michelle, Sarah and Ryan are having too much fun to be a Toronto band.

I don’t care if they copped the sleeve design from a Partridge Family album, it’s still the best seven bucks I’ve spent on a disc this month.

Shitt Hottt hit the Tranzac July 21.
