Shooting At Unarmed Men

Rating: NNN

Ex-Mclusky bass player Jon Chapple and his chums have apparently adopted as their band name a manoeuvre well understood by First Nations communities in Ontario, though you shouldn’t get your hopes up about experiencing the kickback from the heavy guns Chapple used to fire with his bandmates in Mclusky. This album still has some guts and glory – or at least whisky-swigging and bar-brawling, which I found questionable on first listen. The Pink Ink made a snappy A-side on an earlier EP, and some other little bullets are No-One Can Waltz and Taking Care Of Business. Though several tracks would be more aptly titled “Whoopee, let’s get stupid,” these working-class white boys from Cardiff have a certain charm, or maybe that’s just the whisky talking.
