This instrumental tribute to Neil Young is a bit of a head-scratcher. The lyrics and singing seem crucial to the package - take away the vocals in Heart Of Gold and what's left? In this instance, an upbeat jazzy jam with drifting Hammond organs. The monster riff in Cinnamon Girl is replaced by a noodling bass solo and floating soundscapes; Ohio becomes a slide guitar session piloted by Norah Jones guitarist and Little Italy resident Kevin Breit. Sisters Euclid are obviously true fans, and their version of Long May You Run captures the mood. But they stray so errantly from the original songs' appeal that Neil Young becomes an abstract connection. Sisters Euclid play the Orbit Room Monday (August 14).
