SIZZLA The Journey: The Very Best Of Sizzla Kalonji (VP) Rating: NNNN
It would feel wrong if this disc didn't begin with either Just One Of Those Days or Praise Ye Jah, the proper one-?two punch of this well-?crafted retrospective of Rastafari revolutionary Sizzla. Though he sits on approximately 45 albums of Babylon-?burning vibrations, August Town's finest Bobo Ashanti poet sliced "only" 21 tracks for this Very Best Of. From his Xterminator records days all the way up to the current Kalonji Records work, you can hear his development across The Journey. Though the audio quality is slightly inconsistent, the power of Sizzla's sentiments never is, overcoming any production deficiencies that might creep in.
This disc of his more uplifting tunes gives a comprehensive look at Sizzla's music, finishing with the timeless Black Woman And Child. It's a righteous starting point for any Sizzla novice interested in getting to know this compelling artist.
