SKA ALL MIGHTY

Rating: NNNN

You could stick your arm into a bag, randomly pull out a dozen tunes on the Treasure Isle label and all of them would be classics. That seems to be what happened here. Ska All Mighty is the latest in a seemingly endless stream of ska compilations documenting Duke Reid’s fearsome and pioneering Treasure Isle sound system, and the quality is as high as the first set. Many of these songs by Don Drummond, the Miracles, Justin Hinds, Stranger Cole and others are previously unreleased on CD, but all rock like number ones, engineered strictly for summer listening and backed by the airtight rhythm sections of the Skatalites, the Duke Reid Group, the Trenton Spence Orchestra and the Baba Brooks Band.
