…So Addictive

Rating: NNN

With so little commercial hiphop showing a sense of adventure, the innovative production jobs of Missy Elliott’s sidekick, Timbaland, sound increasingly alien. Elliott may be a competent rapper, however mundane her delivery, but backed by the ingeniously warped beat barrage devised by Timbaland, the So Addictive album lives up to it’s boast. Apparently. Elliott hasn’t yet realized that what’s happening around her voice is actually the star of the show. Otherwise, she wouldn’t waste tracks singing corny ballads. Not even Nelly Furtado’s appearance on a forthcoming remix of Get Ur Freak On could ruin Timbaland’s awesome groove.
