Admittedly, I've never understood the fuss over Glaswegian quartet Sons and Daughters, but this five-song preview of their forthcoming The Repulsion Box album shows some promise I must've missed on Love The Cup. Though Dance Me In is nothing too special, their hand-clapping and tambourine-slapping cover of Parliament's Come In Out Of The Rain does the job. It's an inspired choice that I'd wager Sons and Daughters producer Edwyn Collins - an old-school soulboy who knows his P-Funk jams - had a hand in choosing. In any case, it works marvellously, even with their weedy voices. The backpack generation finally has its own What's So Funny About Peace Love And Understanding.
Sons and Daughters drop by Lee's Palace September 5.
