If anyone's a product of the Internet age, it's Spiral Beach. Not because their infectious indie rock has taken the country by storm as only a young band with a MySpace page could. Rather, they clearly have a massive collection of downloaded music.
How else can their mishmash of club-ready, 60s-psychedelia-meets-indie-rock-meets-electronica be explained?
The band's debut full-length is all over the place. Their first track is straight out of the disco era, while Rocket Fuel is a rollicking dirty blues number. More sounds are ripped from the 80s, and the genre-hopping continues from there.
But this barely-out-of-high-school foursome have somehow managed to fuse their influences together into an incredibly catchy and cohesive unit. While there's clearly something different going on with each song, it's all wildly energetic rock. There's a reason why Spiral Beach have been pegged Toronto's next big export.
Spiral Beach hit the Phoenix November 1.
