Give Jason Pierce credit for seeing the bigger picture. After abruptly firing his long-time backing band, many figured the Spiritualized frontman had lost it. Instead, he's come back with a 100-piece orchestra and choir and Spiritualized's boldest statement yet. Let It Come Down (out Tuesday) is the logical end point to everything Pierce has been working toward since Lazer Guided Melodies, decidedly pompous and overblown but with an element of human soul often missing from his past epics. The biggest step here is to not hide behind a wall of noise. French horns and swollen strings replace guitar feedback, and for once you can actually make out what Pierce is singing. It doesn't always work, and it might take a few listens to make sense of the mix, but when it clicks, it's majestic.
