St. Lunatics

Rating: NNN

With Nelly having put St. Louis on the map with Country Grammar, phase two of the world domination plan is to bring forward his whole St. Lunatics posse. They’ve been at it since 93, evidently, and the only departure from Free City is that the jams have been constructed by Nelly’s minimalist beat scientist, Jason “Jay E” Epperson, who put the swang into their breakout hit, Midwest Swing. It’s a little Miami bass bounce and some Atlanta-filtered dirty south boogie tweaked with a Missouri drawl. Get used to it — Midwest Swing is gonna be booming out of SUVs all summer.
