Stones Throw continues to leak its low-key, off-kilter creations to the label’s fanatic and swelling fan base with this 70s-feeling video compilation, a worthy addition to your rap video collection.
MF Doom’s Monkey Suite is like a stopmotion Michael Gondry-meets-El-P’s Stepfather Factory capitalist nightmare. J Dilla’s Nothing Like This could well have been the result of an aquatic acid trip by Björk and Amy Winehouse, with its non-linear plotting and amazingly textured animation. Then the bright summer day family BBQ at the zoo with Madlib, his head-nodding grandparents, a loose black panther and blunted comrades makes for great entertainment on Oh No’s banger, Move. Also, the colourful abstractions of Quasimoto’s Bullyshit is an eyeball thrill.
