Featuring the guitar stylings of Jordan Officer, That’s For Me comes off like a mellow jazz classic. At times it’s as if some mythical uniting of Ella Fitzgerald and Django Reinhardt took place and this is the elusive lost album they cut. OK, not quite, but the songs are so well performed that Stéphane Grappelli wouldn’t balk at joining in on violin. Arioli’s phrasing and timbre are bang on, and Officer’s subtle timing is astounding.
Susie Arioli plays Hugh’s Room Friday (April 30).
