Sweet November

Rating: NNNN

Though on the surface the companion disc to the new Keanu Reeves/Charlize

Theron weepie skirts worryingly close to Women In Song territory, it actually works as a complete recording for two reasons: the moods of the songs are simpatico and the quality of artists is exceptional. Oh yeah — and guys are also represented. It’s about time Stevie Nicks was dusted off and put to work on something brand new. Ditto Paula Cole, who pairs with the engaging Dolly Parton. Amanda Ghost’s Cellophane, meanwhile, is as haunting as you’d expect from someone named ghost. And these songs actually appear in the movie. Rad.
