The Flashing Lights’ worrisome flirtation with hobbit-rock noodling that followed the release of Elevature appears to have been just a momentary lapse of sanity — they’re now happily back in harmony with a full-on power pop regime. Think the Motors, Monks and the Motions and you’ll get an idea of what makes the Flashing Lights shine so doggone bright on Sweet Release. In your face, New Pornographers.
