Perhaps looking to cash in on the recent staggering success of Franz Ferdinand and the insta-hype surrounding Arctic Monkeys, Domino makes a new addition to its family and comes up with a dud. Potentially one of the most predictable albums of the year, Hey People! runs the gamut of blatant style hijacking, stealing from the White Stripes, the Hives and especially the Strokes (circa their brief heyday). The result is exactly what you’d expect: loud and hard garage rock devoid of personality or originality. Since they’ve only put out nine songs on a disc that runs just over 22 minutes, you get the feeling the band can’t be bothered to change that.
