THE BLACK KEYS

Rating: NN

With the Fat Possum label now releasing hiphop recordings by their rural blues artists – R. L. Burnside’s horrible new disc, A Bothered Mind, is rife with breakbeats, scratching and misguided Kid Rock and Lyrics Born collabos – it’s only logical that they’d get their rock acts like the Black Keys to take care of the raunchy juke joint jams. There’s not much musical finesse to the Black Keys breakdowns, and the stripped-down Sonics redux is really getting tired. They need to come up with a new shtick on the double.
