It would be expecting too much of the Donnas to start exploring adult themes now that they’re out of high school, but they really should be past the jailbait pose. The innocent hijinx and dumb rhymes, which may have been cute coming from inept teenagers, just sound pathetic on Turn 21. Everyone knows they’ve got a horde of drooling boy fans, so there’s no need to make it the subject of every song. The bigger problem is that the youthful zip is gone from their playing, which make even their two-and-a-half-minute tunes seem like they’re dragging on. A big let-down. The Donnas play the Reverb March 15.
