THE FAMILY VALUES TOUR 2001

Rating: NNN

The Family Values Tour 2001 could totally double as a soundtrack for yet another Crow movie. Just throw a bunch of nouveau metal-rock bands together and, voila! That’s OK. STP’s Vasoline is always a good track, as are Staind’s It’s Been Awhile and STP’s Wonderful, for which Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington joins them onstage. There’s a bit of that impromptu collaboration stuff with Deadsy’s P. Exeter Blue joining Static-X on Push It (not to be confused with the Salt-N-Pepa hit), while Aaron Lewis of Staind sits in with STP and Linkin Park. Oh, the craziness! It’s interesting how improved production values make live albums feel less and less live. Sure, you can hear the screaming fans, but the recordings are almost studio quality. It doesn’t really make it feel like being there, you know?
