A percolating fixture of the Toronto indie scene for the past three years, the Guest Bedroom unleash another all-too-short blast of brain-infecting angular post-punk pop on their third EP.
On standout opener, Planted, vocalist Sandi Falconer alternates between singing pointed questions in passionate verses and shouting urgent call-and-answer cries of "I take things seriously!" in energetic choruses. Track Points Of Reference picks up where criminally overlooked West Coast punks Cadeaux left off in 2006 with spiky guitars and jerky rhythms delivering oddball hooks galore.
Together with older tracks No Thief and We Like Accidents, the Guest Bedroom have amassed the makings of a killer debut LP.
The Guest Bedroom release Treading Water/Blowing Smoke September 11 at Sneaky Dee's.
