The lineup to be The Next Franz Ferdinand is getting longer these days. The latest band to queue up are sharp-dressed men the Kaiser Chiefs, who've smartly enlisted the help of British super-producer Stephen Street (Blur, Morrissey) to twiddle the knobs on their debut album. But while Employment proves the Chiefs are fairly competent, even Street's muscular studio skillz can't deliver this record from the bland bin. With the exception of the (corporate) call to arms of I Predict A Riot and the soaring Caroline, Yes, there's not enough here to warrant even Bloc Party status. To quote the big-riffin', tambourine-jerking Na Na Na Na Naa, "It does not move me, it does not get me going at all." Well said, chaps.
