THE LIARS

THE LIARS They Were Wrong, So We Drowned (Mute) Rating: N

Rating: N

Whether the Liars have choked under the pressure of high expectations or simply tried to defy them, the Williamsburg scene stars have gone from art-dance heroes to glitch-dabbling zeroes on their witchy-weird concept album They Were Wrong, So We Drowned faster than you can say Walpurgisnacht. Of course, the Matmos-inspired buzz and crackle you’ll hear in place of actual songs could be a gag. If so, the joke’s on Mute, who apparently paid to have a studio built in the New Jersey home of Liars’ singer Angus Andrew for this. Oops. Let’s hope they kept the receipts.
