The Misfits

The Misfits Project 1950 (Rykodisc) Rating: NNN

Rating: NNN

Jerry Only must not have anything to fall back on if he’s marking the 25th anniversary of the Misfits by putting together this special lineup – featuring Marky Ramone and Black Flag’s Dez Cadena – to cover his favourite 50s tunes under the Misfits moniker, even though he’s the only Misfit left. It didn’t take a whole lot of thought or ingenuity to make this record – just punk up a bunch of classic tunes like This Magic Moment, Dream Lover, Great Balls Of Fire, Diana and Monster Mash. It’s fun – you can sing along with Jerry, only he can’t really sing (but we knew that already). There’s a little music lesson thing called Rock 101 in the liner notes plus a bonus DVD of some live stuff.
