Eventually, the Roots’ unbroken string of exceptional hiphop albums will have to end, but for now there’s no drop-off in quality with The Tipping Point. The dependably dope Illadelphic crew stick to what they do best – delivering incisive social commentary with block-rockin’ beats for a mature hiphop audience. There are no crunk collabos with Lil’ Jon, no Snoop Dogg cameos, and they didn’t farm out any tracks to Kanye West or Just Blaze. In fact, there’s no pandering to popular trends whatsoever – likely because they’re too busy creating their own.
