The Royal Crowns

Rating: NNN

You may have been fed a beer by a Royal Crown without knowing it. In addition to drumming in the band, which blends rockabilly with country-style pedal steel guitar, Teddy Fury has a night job as a mainstay behind the bar at the Horseshoe. Theirs isn’t what you’d call a highly fashionable genre, but you have to credit the Royal Crowns for not cashing in on any profitable trends. Both their reverence for the rockabilly greats and their obvious affection for the sounds and styles of that era shine through, underlining their love of a good time. You might enjoy it despite yourself. The Royal Crowns release After Dark at the Horseshoe Friday (November 4).
