THE RUDE MECHANICALS

THE RUDE MECHANICALS Checkin’ For Squirrels (independent) Rating: NNN

Rating: NNN

Torontonians by way of P.E.I., the Rude Mechanicals are coming to terms with relocation to the Big Smoke while still yearning for the wide open spaces and friendly faces of their Eastern stomping grounds. Making no concessions to their new base, they’ve given Checkin’ For Squirrels the sound of the East Coast – roots rock with country ‘n’ western sensibilities, gruff harmonies and plenty of two-step shuffles. The Moe Berg-produced set features appearances by Damhnait Doyle, Bob Egan and Rose Bolton, who counter the toe-tapping numbers with enough feel and pedal steel to keep you crying in your beer.
