The Salteens

Rating: NNN

The title of this new set of sunny power pop by chirpy West Coast kidlets the Salteens is an order. Brimming with major-chord guitars and keyboards, unaffected boy-girl vocals and even a Bacharach-style horn line or two, Let Go Of Your Bad Days sparkles with charming optimism without a hint of irony. Producer Kevin Kane (the Grapes of Wrath) maintains the Salteens’ simple sweetness with an airy sheen. The potentially cloying cheerfulness is tempered by anxious lyrics about innocent relationships gone awry and naively hopeless crushes. Easy and uncomplicated.

The Salteens will make you smile at the El Mocambo Saturday (June 7).
