The Smugglers

The Smugglers Mutiny In Stereo (Mint) Rating: NN

Rating: NN

On the Smugglers’ eighth studio album, the desperately flailing Vancouver vets sound like a bunch of middle-aged high school buddies dead set on proving wrong the neighbourhood kids who think they’re too old and flabby to be playing snotty punk rock. Somewhat paradoxically, the harder they pound and the louder they try to holler through the briskly paced ditties of Mutiny In Stereo, the less they sound like the roughneck rabble-rousers they pretend to be. Hey, good effort, though. The Smugglers gamely get it up for two shows at the Horseshoe Saturday (March 6) followed by an all-ages matinee Sunday (March 7).
