For all the advance chatter about how the Soundtrack of Our Lives recorded three or four albums' worth of new material before arriving at the tracks for Origin 1, the results don't sound drastically different from 2001's Behind The Music. The celebrated Swedes kick out a very similar set of anthemic riff rock derived from the Stooges, the Stones and the Who, with slightly longer intros and more strummy acoustic guitar parts. The only real change is the appearance of a few slower soft-rock jams, perhaps intended to showcase SOTL's sophistication. In fact, it just underscores the embarrassing banality of Ebbot Lundberg's hippy-dippy lyrics, which might otherwise slip by unnoticed. Maybe he should try singing in Swedish.
