THE WET SPOTS

THE WET SPOTS Ribbed For Pleasure (Wetspotmusic) Rating: NN

Rating: NN

Take songs like Do You Take It (In The Ass), Smack My Bottom and Three Way Rendezvous, add a cabaret/vaudeville backbeat and you have BC comedy-pop duo the Wet Spots. A novelty act in the truest sense, Cass King’s and John Woods’s songs are cute enough, but the novelty wears off faster than cheap lube. In a live setting I’m sure they’d be a blast, but this album falls flat on its ass. They do a good job of steering clear of profanity, but while the songs don’t offend, the shameless advertising of the sex shop where King works sure does. It leaves you feeling dirty for all the wrong reasons. Catch the Wet Spots Saturday (March 6) at the Cameron House.
