Thornley

Rating: NNN

It may still be just a little too early for what Thornley are trying to pull off here. Then again, there are probably ears dragging the airwaves as eagerly for the return of Soundgarden and Alice in Chains as others did for the hair-band sound the Darkness have satisfied. Thornley are a perfect archetype of that guitariffic mid-90s aggro-rock cheese – right down to Ian Thornley’s masterful parroting of Chris Cornell’s vocal whine. Not quite grunge, but as pastiche, it’s almost art.

Thornley rock the Mod Club Theatre tonight (Thursday May 27).
