THRUST

Rating: NN

Northern Touch was a rap classic (and I really think a Part Two’s past due), but after a worthy cameo in the all-star Can-rap jam, Thrust made the ill-advised move of appearing on the song Faded by Canadian boy-pop duo Soul Decision (whom I may be mixing up with McMaster & James). To this date, when I think of Thrust, that’s the first thing that comes to mind – that and his own video-supported single, This Is For Sure, which shamelessly bit Common’s superior Funky For You. On his new album, the only biting that goes down is of Busta Rhymes’s stock chorus style (Whatcha Like) and of any number of similarly personality-less rappers, over cheap, chintzy club-lite beats courtesy of Rob Capone. Rochester aka Juice fans will love it.
