T.I.

Rating: NN

Crunk boy wonder T.I. hit the big time with Rubberband Man, and suddenly everyone – including P. Diddy and Usher – wanted a piece of his action. With Urban Legend, he attempts to break out of the Dirty South club circuit by dipping into some R&B slow jams, but his mediocre rhymes are drowned out by the familiar voices of popular guests like Pharrell Williams, Nelly, Lil’ Kim and Lil’ Jon. Part of the problem with Urban Legend is that T.I. has yet to develop his songwriting chops, which is made worse by the fact that he doesn’t know a weak beat when it’s presented to him. Some rappers are just better off jumping on other people’s joints.
