TOMAS JIRKU

TOMAS JIRKU Entropy (Intr_version) Rating: NNNN Rating: NNNN

Toronto-based minimalist Tomas Jirku returns with a fourth album of dub-influenced click-house that should excite fans of the Cologne techno sound. Slow and lo-fi, it will especially appeal to those who tend more toward dub than house. Few tracks break the 100-BPM barrier, and most shuffle along at a glacial pace. The sparseness of the recording style is difficult to penetrate at first, but further listening unlocks the submerged layers and textures that make this album compelling.
