Hiring a bunch of producers to commit their house and techno visions of Brazilian music to CD reeks of cultural tourism — and no doubt accounts for the vapid rainforest-type sounds (birds chirping, rain falling) that populate Trip Do Brasil’s two discs. But while a Caetano Veloso album — heck, a Sepultura album — would go much further toward expanding one’s understanding of the music of São Paulo and Rio, at 152 minutes and mid-price, this is a good deal for club kids.
