UH HUH HER

Rating: NN

Those who follow The L Word will be interested to see Leisha Hailey’s character, Alice Pieszecki, come to life as one-half of a synth-?pop duo named after a PJ Harvey record. For everyone else, maybe not so much.

Granted, Hailey and partner Camila Grey aren’t just bored L.A. dilettantes dabbling in music. They both have credible music backgrounds, especially Grey, who works as a studio ace for A-?list hip-?hop artists. But kind of like Hailey’s show, the final product here likes to think it’s edgier than it is. Grey and Hailey repeatedly use Harvey and New Order as templates, but all the radio-?baiting, soaring choruses over-?produced by Al Clay make Uh Huh Her sound like an electro-?heavy version of the Corrs.

Uh Huh Her visit the Mod Club Friday (May 23).
