Another name to add to the shoegazer revival, Germany’s Ulrich Schnauss makes electronic music heavily informed by the early-90s work of Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine, Chapterhouse, et al. Goodbye’s overall prettiness is both its weakness and its strength the album is pleasant but blends into the background a bit too easily.
Granted, that’s an occupational hazard when you’re making dreamy ambient pop, and the moments where Schnauss successfully integrates his electronic influences into the chiming guitars and washed-out vocals show real promise.
