Vendetta Red

VendettA RED Between The Never And The Now (Epic/Sony) Rating: NN

Rating: NN

The hoopla surrounding Seattle’s Vendetta Red is reminiscent of the At the Drive-In buzz leading up to their Relationship Of Command debut. Yes, we have a new great white hype. Between The Never And The Now sounds like a contrived collection of formulaic hard-rocking emo, with all the predictable dips, chunks and caterwauls. A soft melodic verse here, a guttural roar from the depths of hell there, lather, rinse, repeat. Shades of Fugazi, with At the Drive-In’s pop sensibilities. Nods to other genres across the board are featured here as well, showcasing a decent level of musicianship, but it often gets lost in the din.
